Projects

Learn about projects and how to organize your work in Pilfer

Projects provide an organizational framework to group together scouts and assets. They help you model spend projections for new initiatives, organize sourcing and existing resources, and can be configured with select member permissions for collaboration.

Creating Projects

To create a new project:

  1. Navigate to the Projects page
  2. Click "Create Project"
  3. Fill in the project details:
    • Name: Project name
    • Description: Rich text description of the project
    • Priority: Urgent, High, Medium, Low, or None

Projects can be scoped to your organization (team projects) or kept as personal projects.

Project Organization

Projects help organize your work by:

  • Grouping Scouts: Link scouts to projects to track purchases for specific initiatives
  • Grouping Assets: Link assets to projects to see what resources are allocated
  • Scoping Views: View scouts and assets filtered by project
  • Project Projections: Model burn and spend for specific projects

Project-Scoped Views

When viewing scouts or assets within a project context, you'll only see items linked to that project. This helps you focus on resources and purchases relevant to a specific initiative.

To view project-scoped content:

  1. Open a project's detail page
  2. Navigate to the Scouts or Assets tab
  3. You'll see only scouts/assets linked to this project

Project Permissions

Projects can be configured with member permissions, allowing you to control who can view and edit project content. This is useful for:

  • Sandboxing new initiatives
  • Protecting sensitive project information
  • Collaborating with specific team members

Project Projections

Projects have their own projections tab where you can model burn and spend for the project. This allows you to:

  • Track project-specific burn rates
  • Model different scenarios
  • See how project spending affects overall runway
  • Compare projected vs. actual spending

Project projections pull together:

  • Recurring costs (recurs) scoped to the project
  • Asset values for assets linked to the project
  • Scout costs for scouts linked to the project
  • Single events related to the project

This gives you a holistic view of the financial impact of each project.
